How do I convert Bitcoin to Ethereum on a DEX?

Asked 2 years ago

I want to exchange money (and crypto) without a 3rd party. So far, I have Bitcoin. How do I exchange this for Ethereum on a decentralized platform?

Let’s demonstrate this point using Uniswap as our DeFi exchange. First, visit the Uniswap website. Press the “Use Uniswap” tab on the upper right-hand side. Thirdly, click the “Connect Wallet” tab in the top right-hand corner and choose the wallet containing your Bitcoins. Fourthly, sign in to your decentralized wallet to link it with Uniswap. After logging in, you will see an option of swapping coins directly via the drop-down selections adjacent to the “from” and “to” sections. Choose Bitcoin as the coin you want to swap and ETH as the coin you wish to receive. Enter the amount you wish to swap and press the “swap” button. You will see a pop-up window of your transaction for confirmation in your decentralized wallet. After confirming, the transaction will take a few minutes to be added to the Ethereum blockchain for the swap to be complete. That is it!

3. In the left dropdown menu, select Ethereum as your currency to buy.

4. Deposit the required funds to complete the deal.

5. Simply confirm the transaction.
