How did the Ethereum Yellow Paper differ from the White Paper?
Asked 4 years ago
I've been doing some research into the co-founders of Ethereum and the history of DeFi blockchains. There's a lot of info about Vitalik Buterin and what his white paper on Ethereum first said. Then I know that Gavin Wood went and wrote the Ethereum Yellow Paper afterwards. Did he include a lot of new information? And if so, how did the Yellow Paper differ from the White Paper? Just a summary of the main points would be great - thank you!

A whitepaper predominantly describes a business idea, while a yellow paper outlines the project’s technical documentation. When you compare the Ethereum whitepaper’s language and style to the yellow paper, you will notice significant differences.
First, the yellow paper’s title, “Ethereum: A Safe Decentralized General Transaction Ledger, Brazantium Edition,” is quite technical. It is meant for users or developers who are more familiar with blockchain technology. It starts with an abstract since it is a scientific publication.
On the other hand, the Ethereum whitepaper introduces the concept and highlights the relevant terminologies before diving into complex computational equations clear to a specialized audience.
