How did Vitalik Buterin manage to raise millions to start Ethereum at such a young age?

I'm so interested in Vitalik Buterin and how he was able to start up Ethereum so young. I recently read that he was able to raise $18 million in funding to first get Ethereum off the ground. This was back in 2015 when he was only 21! Does anyone know how on earth he was able to raise millions of dollars as such a youngster? I hope to find some inspiration for my own blockchain projects... Thanks!

Vitalik Buterin managed to raise millions to start Ethereum at a young age through networking and creating a solid idea that drew the attention of many investors. While writing for the Bitcoin Magazine, Buterin evaluated the various economic, technological and political elements of crypto, capturing the attention of many Bitcoin enthusiasts. He also traveled around the world studying multiple blockchain projects and established that they were so focused on specific applications and not broad enough. This helped him develop a revolutionary idea of replacing the functionality of crypto protocols with a Turing-complete programming language. In 2014, Vitalik was recognized as one of Peter Thiel’s fellows and awarded $100,000 to fund his project.
