Currently, you don't need to analyze an e-cash protocol before transferring your Bitcoins. E-cash or electronic cash was a digital payment system designed to guarantee internet users privacy when making micropayments. The system leveraged blind signatures to obscure messages before signing, making the users unable to connect withdrawals and use transactions. E-cash was invented by Dr David Chaum's firm, DigiCash, in 1990. While big financial institutions expressed interest in e-cash, the idea never materialized as DigiCash became bankrupt eight years later.
